This Privacy Policy describes how Velvet ("the Bot", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and stores information when you use our Discord bot. By using Velvet, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

When you interact with Velvet, we may collect and store the following information:

• Your Discord User ID
• Your Discord username and tag at the time of first interaction
• Your approval status (pending, approved, or blacklisted)
• Whether you have premium access
• The date you first requested access
• The date you were approved (if applicable)
• Relay channel IDs associated with your account (if applicable)

We do not collect message content, passwords, email addresses, or any personal information beyond what is listed above.

2. how we use your information

The information we collect is used solely to:

• Determine whether you are authorized to use Velvet commands
• Manage your premium access status
• Operate the owner relay messaging system
• Prevent abuse and enforce our Terms of Service

3. data storage

Your data is stored securely in a MongoDB database hosted by MongoDB Atlas. We take reasonable measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, however no method of storage is 100% secure.

4. data sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your data with any third parties. Your data is only accessible to the Bot owner and is never used for advertising or marketing purposes.

5. third party services

When you use certain commands, Velvet may query third-party APIs (such as IP lookup services, email validation services, or data breach databases). These services have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for their data practices. Queries to these services may include the data you provide as input (e.g. an IP address or email).

6. data retention

We retain your data for as long as you are a user of Velvet or until you request deletion. If you are blacklisted, your data may be retained to prevent re-registration.

7. your rights

You have the right to:

• Request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your data (subject to our Terms of Service)
• Request correction of inaccurate data

8. children's privacy

Velvet is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. We will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made. Continued use of Velvet after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
